It’s amazing that people are still just learning about RubyQuest, but there are few things I savor in life like watching the reactions of someone who’s freshly discovered it. And it gets to me like sitting someone down to show them for the first time a movie I love.

I think my idea of heaven - one suitable for my humongous ego - would be one in which I get to sit over the shoulder of every person when they read RubyQuest for the first time and watch their reactions in real time.
It’s always fun to watch how these things unfold. To hear their expectations, to see the visceral reactions, to read their hopes and imaginations.

I love the thoughts not yet informed by the endings or the twists, the predictions of what will play out, the views of the present as it happens, all spilling out like a stream of consciousness. By the time they’ve finished the whole thing, they’ve usually packed it up to a near, concise little review. And it’s not that I can’t appreciate those.

But I prefer it messy.
